Muppet Monday: Footloose & Fancy Free

According to my clock, I still have about 3 hours until Muppet Monday is officially over.

I made it!!

James actually gets the credit this week for Muppet Monday. We’re sitting in the middle of a pile of boxes in our new living quarters (don’t worry, I already unpacked my Muppet books!) so he thought “Movin’ Right Along” would be the perfect subject for this week.

I absolutely love this song. And I’ll tell you a little secret… before I heard the original in “The Muppet Movie”, I fell in love with Alkaline Trio’s version on The Green Album.

Seriously! I used to listen to it at the gym all the time.

But nothing beats Kermit and Fozzie road tripping around the U.S. I mean, who doesn’t travel without a banjo? That’s our Kermit.

I’m not sure it’s possible for “The Rainbow Connection” to ever be outdone but “Movin’ Right Along” is a close second. It’s catchy, fun, and still heartfelt. Plus it only makes the ultimate buddy moment that much better. (And there’s another Muppet cameo!)

With James and I embarking on a new adventure ourselves, the lyrics: “Movin’ right along / We’re truly birds of a feather /
We’re in this together and we know where we’re going” have never felt more fitting.
