This Happy Celebration: Year 1

Whoa! I honestly cannot believe it’s been one year of This Happy Place Blog. If possible, it feels like it hasn’t been that long and it’s been forever at the same time. To celebrate, I recorded a little video:

Here’s a list of those lovely people I mentioned:

» Michelle, THP Co-Founder: go find her here & here.
» Adam & Andrew, Disney Hipsters.
» Sarah, Running at Disney.
» Melissa, Mouse on the Mind.
» Jeff, MiceChat & upcoming author of It’s Kind of a Cute Story (memoir of former Imagineer, Rolly Crump.)
» Rachel (find her here & here) and Magan (find her here here and here.)
» Amanda (@FuturePixarian) & Q (@Q_GS)

Last but not least: My non-Disney friends who read THP just to read it… seriously, that makes my day. James, my wonderfully supportive husband, who has really taken to the whole “Disney thing” in the best way possible… as in, he is equally obsessed and I love him for it. (Plus he never complains about me taking time to write, in fact he encourages it.) And my dad, who is my most loyal reader (and did pay for all of those early trips that inspired me to start writing this in the first place).

And I also wanted to mark this occasion with a giveaway. I’m a huge book lover and there are just so many Disney books coming out this fall that I’m looking forward to. Hence, my decision to pre-order a copy of Poster Art of the Disney Parks for a lucky winner. I know if a blog was doing this giveaway I would have to enter! I’ve made it easy! Just leave a blog comment, and there are a few bonus entries too. (For those in the U.S. only. Thx!) Good luck!

Thank you, friend and reader, for taking the time to check out the blog today and another other day you do. I really appreciate it and I hope that I can bring you more fun/distraction in the future!

  1. Oh my gosh! How fantastic is that book! I need to add it to my “To Buy” list in case I don’t win! Hehehe

    Favorite attraction…favorite attraction…oh boy…

Would saying “all of it” be cheating? Hehehe

If I had to pick, I guess it would be Tower of Terror (for ride) and Wishes (for fireworks display).

Answering this question has stressed me out! HAHA!

  2. I can’t believe it’s been a year. Congrats, ladies!!!!!!

It’s so hard to pick just one attraction that I love. Disney is my favorite place in the entire world! I narrowed it down to two, Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but I really choose all of the rides and attractions! 🙂

  3. Congratulations on a whole year of doing what you love and being able to share it with others! What could be better?

Your writing is always fun and enjoyable, and it’s such a treat to be able to take a break every once in a while and indulge in an interest that others find just as fascinating. Starting off must have been difficult, but keeping at it and growing your fanbase through networking has paid off; and I’m glad it has, otherwise, I wouldn’t have found this happy place where I actually look forward to Mondays!

  4. I’m excited about this book! Sounds great! My favorite attraction is The Haunted Mansion BUT Pirates of The Carribean is a VERY close second 😉

  5. Congratulations on your blogiversary! My favorite attraction by far is Buzz Lightyear. What can I say? I’m ultra competitive. 🙂 But I always feel the need to express my extreme love for the Mad Tea Party and Carousel of Progress. There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow…

  6. Congrats on your 1 year anniversary! It is really had to choose a favorite attraction but I am going to go with The Haunted Mansion. I’ve loved it since I was a kid and its the only attraction that I always ride multiple times on our trips.

  7. Congratulations on your one year anniversary!!! My favorite attraction is the TTA Peoplemover, but I’m very partial toward Country Bear Jamboree and the Enchanted Tiki Room. I love attractions that let you rest and enjoy the sights and sounds of the park.

  8. Congrats! Honestly, it is really had to choose just one favorite attraction… Jungle Book, Big Thunder Mtn., or Splash Mtn.? Just about any attraction keeps me in my happy place!

  9. I am so excited about the opportunity to win this book! I’ve always been smitten with the park posters, so this is perfect! My favorite attraction is probably Space Mountain, but that’s a tough choice.

  10. What a cute blog and congrats on the 1 yr anniversary! favorite attraction? Tough to chose but I’ll go by parks. It’s between Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion in MK. Both classics and ones my entire fam loves going on together. EPCOT it would have been Figment/Horizons but currently I’d have to go with Living with the Land. The studios I love The Great Movie Ride(singin’ in the rain!) and at AK it’s Kilimanjaro Safari.

    Keep the posts coming!

  11. Tough question! My favorites are Test Track and Rockin Rollercoaster. Soarin’ is pretty cool too.

    Thanks for the giveaway!!!

  12. Congratulations and thanks for all the great posts! Don’t you worry D, I entered on my own. I never refuse a good contest!!

  13. I love the posters of Disneyland, so I need this book. My favorite attraction? Right now, I love Radiator Springs Racers, but a long time favorite is Small World. Loved it since I was a kid, song and all.

  14. Pirates of the carribean! Probably the greatest dark ride I’ll ever know. It’s the eccense of a Disney park ride, it takes you to another world. It’s good for the whole family and it’s filled with memories
