Muppet Monday: “Our Assets are Frozen”

Pretty sure today is officially one full year of the Muppet Monday features! Thanks to those of you who stop by every week! The Muppets appreciate it… okay, and so do I!

Who doesn’t watch holiday movies in the middle of the summer?

Haven’t you heard of Christmas in July?

Seems like we are headed for our second heat wave weekend of the summer here in New York. Kind of crazy when it’s only the beginning of July, isn’t it?

When I informed my husband of the weather and mentioned “heat wave”, his immediate answer was “just like in the The Muppet Christmas Carol!”

First of all, did I marry well or what? Second, I had no idea what he was talking about for a second. (I know, shame on me.) And then I remembered one of my very favorite scenes from the 1992 Muppet movie:

Don’t you just love those rats?

“Island in the Sun” is a tune by Harry Belafonte, a friend of the Muppets and Jim Henson. He wrote it as the title song to the movie of the same name, which was released in 1957. (Weird trivia fact: Belafonte sold his NYC apartment to Roy E. Disney’s daughter, Abigail, in 2007.)

Stay cool, friends! Arriba!
