Muppet Monday: Dangerous Dancing

Happy Muppet Monday!

We’re back with another scene from Ben Vereen’s time on The Muppet Show from Season 1.

This number doesn’t feature much of him, but is an extremely high energy number that I loved seeing.

Although I’m not sure if I could keep up with the dance moves of these Muppets…

Jump! Shout! Knock yourself out!

How amazing are Ben’s moves and Rowlf’s work at the piano?

I’m kind of knocked out myself, discovering this song was performed by Barry Manilow with lyrics by him and Bruce Howard Sussman. (They also worked on Copacabana together, along with Newsies’ Jack Feldman.)

The truth is there are more videos of gals tap dancing to this song in recitals than a straight video of Barry singing the tune. (He’s sort of long winded in concerts, don’t you think?)

Here’s a mid-concert Jump Shout Boogie… awesome hair + jump suit too.

Uncle Sam, brotherhood and apple pie! Sounds like something Sam the Eagle would approve of… especially with the election on the calendar for tomorrow. (GO VOTE!)

Hope you all have a great week!

P.S. For those of you who are huge Ben Vereen fans, I just listened to a short podcast he did and thought it was quite wonderful! Check it out if you have a chance.
