Things to do
Autumn in Sydney is a perfect time to explore the city and its many historical tourist attractions. The pleasant weather means it is more comfortable to be outdoors and walk around the city than it is during the summer months, when the heat is at its peak.
The Botanic Gardens, Sydney
One of the most famous attractions in Sydney is the Botanic Gardens. Located in the heart of the city, the gardens are an oasis of breath-taking natural beauty where you can relax and learn about the many plants on display. The Botanic Gardens are just a short walk from the Opera House and can be combined for a memorable day in Sydney.
The Sydney Royal Easter Show is held in the month of April in the city. This event is an agricultural show that was designed to promote local produce and livestock and features a wide variety of entertainments and exhibitions including an amusement park and fair, restaurants, shopping stands and competitions.
Hit the beach
With sunshine and warm temperatures, April is a perfect time to get away from the city and hit the beach for some relaxation. One of Australia’s most famous beaches, Bondi Beach, is located in Sydney and is easy to reach by bus from the centre of the city. Bondi Beach is a wide, 1km long stretch of soft, golden sand and is visited by thousands of tourists every year. It can get busy, but it is worth a trip there to see the breathtakingly beautiful beach and bright blue sea in person.
Surfing in Sydney
Bondi Beach is also a paradise for surfers. The shallow, protected waters are a perfect place to learn to surf and there are a number of surf schools on the beach that will teach you how. After a busy day surfing and soaking up the sun, visitors can grab a bite to eat at one of the many great cafés or restaurants that line the beach.
